    Hash and UUID generator

MD5 and SHA checksums of text or files, plus random UUID v4 and time-ordered UUID v7.

Hashes are calculated in your browser. MD5 and SHA-1 are fine for checksums but are not secure for passwords.

    How it works

    1. 1

Enter text or drop a file

Hashes appear at once as you type.

    2. 2

      Compare

Paste a published checksum to confirm a download.

    3. 3

      Need an ID?

Switch to UUID and generate up to 100 identifiers.

    Questions and answers

    Which hashes are supported?

    MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512.

    Is MD5 safe?

Not for passwords or signatures, but it is fine to check that a file was not corrupted.

    UUID v4 or v7?

v4 is random; v7 starts with a timestamp, which keeps database indexes tidy.

    Is my file uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser.
